Immigration and Nationality Law

The Immigration and Nationality Group at Lichtman, Trister & Ross, PLLC represents individuals, domestic and foreign corporations, and non-profit organizations before the Department of Homeland Security’s U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Department of Justice’s Executive Office of Immigration Review, the Department of State, and the Department of Labor. Because U.S. immigration and nationality laws are federal in nature (no state law is involved), the attorneys of the Immigration and Nationality Group are able to provide competitively-priced legal services to clients located anywhere in the United States or abroad.

While the Immigration and Nationality Group has developed particular expertise in handling complex cases involving employment-based nonimmigrant and immigrant matters, waivers of the two-year J-1 home residence requirement (including those for physicians involving service in underserved areas), and the representation of foreign nationals of extraordinary ability (involving O-1, EB-1, and national interest waiver cases), the firm also devotes significant time to the following:

  • Employment-Based, Student, and Trainee Cases involving H-1B, L-1, B-1, F-1, M-1, R-1, B-1, H-3, A -1, and G-4 nonimmigrant visas, TN (NAFTA) status, and labor certification for U.S. permanent residence;
  • Treaty Trader and Investor Cases involving E-1 and E-2 nonimmigrant visas and related applications for U.S. permanent residence;
  • Family-Based Cases involving K-1, K-3, and V-1 nonimmigrant visas and applications for U.S. permanent residence submitted by the relatives of U.S. citizens and permanent residents;
  • Naturalization and Citizenship Cases; and
  • Political Asylum Cases brought by foreign nationals who suffer from a well-founded fear of persecution in their home countries on account of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion.
